Founder, President and CEO of MercadoLibre, Inc.(Nasdaq: MELI), Latin America’s leading e-commerce technology company, founded in August 1999.
Prior to founding MercadoLibre Inc., he worked in the Department of Fixed Income at J.P. Morgan Securities Inc., in New York (June-August 1998) and previously worked at YPF SA, the largest oil company in Argentina, incharge of Capital Markets and Futures and Options (1994-1997).
Obtained in 1999 an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and in 1994 graduated with honors at Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
In 1999, was elected “Referent of Tomorrow” Endeavor Entrepreneur by America Economía magazine.
In 2006, was chosen among the 100 most outstanding personalities of the decade in Argentina in areas of Institutions, Communities and Businesses.
In 2008, received Argentina’s Konex Award - Diploma of Merit - Innovative Entrepreneur Category.
In 2010, Fortune magazine included him in the under 40 most successful entrepreneur ranking and in 2012 won The Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Argentina, distinction awarded by Ernst & Young Consultant.
He is know Board Member and Vice President of Endeavor Argentina (www.endeavor.org.ar), a nonprofit organization, focused on transforming the economies of emerging markets by identifying and supporting high-impact entrepreneurs.
