Iman Usman (30) is the Co-Founder and COO of Ruangguru. Ruangguru is the largest and most valuable ed-tech company in Southeast Asia - serving 22 million students, 300,000 teachers, with >4,500 employees across Southeast Asia (operating in Indonesia, Thailand, & Vietnam). The company is currently valued at close to $1B and has raised over $200 million in its financing rounds from General Atlantic, GGV Capital, Tiger Global Management, among others. Ruangguru is Fast Company’s Most Innovative Company 2021 (#2 in Education, #25 in all sectors).
His contribution and commitment to education & youth empowerment have been recognized globally for his work in founding and leading Indonesian Future Leaders and the Indonesian Youth Parliament. He won the 2008 Indonesian Young Leader Award by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the 2010 Global Changemaker Award, the 2011 UN Youth Assembly Recognition on Humanitarian Development, among others. In 2016, he was appointed by the Indonesian Government to sit at the Youth Panel of the Education Commission, together with Malala Yousafzai. Iman was also included in the list of Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 for Consumer Technology in 2017, won the Emerging Entrepreneur Award 2019 from Ernst & Young and Social Impact Award by Credit Suisse & Tatler Magazine in 2020.
In addition to his work in education, he has published a best-selling book 'Masih Belajar' and won Google Choice Book of the Year 2019. He is also an Independent Commissioner of Bali United Football Club (Winner of Indonesian League) and philanthropist (notably known for running Iman Usman's Scholarship & Mentorship Program). He pursued his M.A from Columbia University and M.Ed from Harvard University
