1988, degree in Social Welfare, Yonsei University; 1996, Master's in Public and Private Management, Yale University, USA. 1998-2014, Member of the National Assembly, the national legislature of Korea, representing Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province. 1998, Deputy Floor Leader, Grand National Party (now the Saenuri Party); 2001, Spokesman, Grand National Party; 2004-05, Chief Deputy Floor Leader, Grand National Party. 2010-11, Chairman, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee, National Assembly. 2012-14, Chairman, Korean-German Parliamentary Friendship Group. 1 July 2014, inaugurated as the 34th Governor of Gyeonggi Province. Has initiated a coalition government for provincial residents. Also actively engaging in public diplomacy on the international stage so as to propel multifaceted growth while preparing both Korea and the world for Korean reunification. Believes in harmonious coexistence with freedom and consideration for others. Vision to build Zero City, a city without carbon emissions, accidents, pollution and restrictions, is being realized in Pangyo, the city that will become Pangyo Zero.
