Peter van Deursen is the platform leader for
Cargill’s Food Ingredients and Systems (FIS)
platform, responsible for leading the group’s
business that serves food makers, foodservice
companies and food retailers. Van Deursen has also been appointed Chief
Executive Officer, Cargill Asia Pacific, where he
will manage the priorities for Cargill across the
region. Peter is also a member of the
organization’s Corporate Center, a core executive
group that includes Cargill’s leadership team,
function and platform leaders. Prior to this
position, Van Deursen was the business unit (BU)
leader for Cargill’s Texturizing Solutions and
Cargill Starches & Sweeteners in Europe. Van Deursen first joined Cargill in 1990 as a
management trainee in the Netherlands. He
subsequently held a variety of roles with Cargill’s
European starches and sweeteners business. This
was followed by several leading positions
throughout Cargill globally , including business
development manager for Cargill’s Biodegradable
Plastics business in the US; commercial director
for the Starches and Sweeteners business in
Europe; and general manager for the Starches &
Sweeteners business in Turkey.
Van Deursen holds an MBA from the Erasmus
University Rotterdam, Netherlands (specialization
in marketing and economics). Parallel to
management experience, he has extensive
experience with operations, sales, M&A, market
entry and corporate responsibility issues. Van Deursen is based in Singapore where he
lives with his wife Nathalie, and two daughters,
aged 9 and 12 years old.
