Mr. Ravi Singh is the Secretary General and CEO of WWF-India since 2003.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Singh was a career banker - with The Chartered Bank and Deutsche Bank until 2003. Mr. Ravi Singh started his career as a Lecturer of History in Bhagat Singh College, Delhi University after his Masters in History from St. Stephen’s College in 1975. Mr. Singh has had an abiding interest in the conservation of nature in India. He has been involved in conservation related issues since 1976 and has been a member of several conservation organizations, including the WWF and BNHS.
As the head of WWF-India, the country’s largest conservation organization, Mr. Singh participates in national fora covering biodiversity and aspects of reducing human footprint.
He played squash at national levels, is a keen traveller, a member of the Himalayan Club, an avid reader. His other interests include Indian History, Rock Shelter paintings, High Altitude Trekking, Western Classical Music, Photography and Natural History.
In his capacity at WWF India, he is a member of advisory councils of several institutions and has participated in several national and international fora.
