Former Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Verification Expert, UN Special Commission for Iraq (UNSCOM). 1993, joined the Department of Humanitarian Affairs (now known as OCHA) and worked on the use of military and civil defence assets in disaster relief for two years; 1997, re-joined as a disaster management expert, working as a Desk Officer and the acting Section Chief for Asia and the Pacific on major emergencies. 2005-06, Head of the OCHA office in Southern Sudan. 2006-08, Chief, UN Central Emergency Response Fund; then Deputy Director, OCHA's Coordination and Response Division. Since 2010, Deputy Director, OCHA Geneva and the Chief of the Emergency Services Branch, based in Geneva; manages OCHA's emergency tools and services, such as the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination teams, civil-military coordination and surge support.
