Serena is an expert in innovative finance and impact investing, with over 15 years of experience advising donors and investors on the design, structuring and evaluation of impact investment strategies and vehicles. She has worked on numerous innovative finance projects, blending private and public capital across agriculture, health, education and skilling. For example, she supported the ICRC with the structuring and launch of the world’s first Humanitarian Impact Bond; and advised UBS Optimus Foundation and the British Asian Trust on the design of the Quality Education India DIB.

Previously, Serena designed and supported the launch of Convergence, a blended finance platform focused on emerging and frontier markets. Serena also worked with Mercy Corps in Darfur. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Caltech, with a specialization in Behavioral Finance.
