Shalini Mahtani, MBE Founder of The Zubin Foundation and Community Business
Shalini Mahtani is one of Hong Kong’s most authoritative and respected voices on social issues, particularly diversity and inclusion and the plight of Hong Kong’s ethnic minorities. Shalini has been a pioneer in civil society working in areas previously untouched in Hong Kong. She is the founder of The Zubin Foundation, a charity that works to improve the lives of Hong Kong’s ethnic minorities by providing opportunities and reducing suffering. They are mostly Hong Kong’s poorest Indians, Pakistanis and Nepalis. The Zubin Foundation is named after the death of her son Zubin. Shalini serves on HK government board advisory and statutory bodies including Commission on Children. She serves as an advisor or board member on a number of local NGOs. Shalini has been the recipient of many accolades, including by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader an MBE from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her services in corporate
social responsibility in Hong Kong and by HKSAR Government and Hong Kong Humanity Award for her contribution to issues related to ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, among others. Shalini is from Hong Kong. Shalini is married and has three children.
