Shasta Darlington

Shasta Darlington is a journalist based in São Paulo, Brazil. She is a contributor to The New York Times and the former Brazil Bureau Chief for CNN, reporting in both English and Spanish.

Ms. Darlington has 20 years of experience covering Latin America and Europe. Before opening CNN’s Brazil bureau in 2011, she reported for the network in Havana, Cuba.

Prior to joining CNN in 2006, Ms. Darlington worked for the Reuters news agency in Brazil and Italy as well as the Bloomberg news agency.

Ms. Darlington started her journalism career in Mexico City, reporting for the English-language newspaper The News and working as a research assistant for the Los Angeles Times.

She holds Bachelors of Arts in English literature and Spanish from Middlebury College in Vermont.
