Dr. SHEN is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Chief Scientist of the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program).

Dr. SHEN received his Ph.D. Degree from Dalian University of Technology in 1990, and started his career in Zhengzhou University of Technology in August of the same year. He was appointed as professor and entitled as an expert who enjoys the state council special allowances in 1993. In 1994, he was honored as “National Middle-aged and Young Expert making Outstanding Contribution”. In 1996, he was entitled as Ph.D. tutor and selected into the first batch of Talents Project of China. Dr. SHEN was appointed as the Vice President of Zhengzhou Industrial University in February 1997, Standing Vice President of Zhengzhou University in July 2000, the President of Zhengzhou University in February 2003. Dr. SHEN was elected as Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009 and appointed as the President of Dalian University of Technology in August 2012. Since December 2013, Dr. SHEN was appointed as the Commissioner of SIPO.
