Shyam S Bhartia, together with his brother Hari S Bhartia, is the Founder and Chairman of Jubilant Bhartia Group (www.jubilantbhartia.com) headquartered in New Delhi, India.
The Jubilant Bhartia Group has a strong presence in diverse sectors like Pharmaceuticals, Contract Research and Development Services, Proprietary Novel Drugs, Life Science Ingredients, Agri Products, Performance Polymers, Food Service (QSR), Food, Auto, Consulting in Aerospace and Oilfield Services. The Group has four flagships companies listed on Indian Stock Exchanges - Jubilant Pharmova Limited, Jubilant Ingrevia Limited, Jubilant FoodWorks Limited and Jubilant Industries Limited along with a global workforce of around 43,000 employees.

The Group, through its investments by Jubilant Pharmova Limited, has presence in the United States and Canada, with around 2200 employees. Shyam is the Chairman of Jubilant Pharmova Limited, Jubilant Ingrevia Limited and Jubilant FoodWorks Limited. He is also Chairman and Managing Director of Jubilant Pharma Limited, Singapore (a 100% wholly-owned subsidiary of Jubilant Pharmova Limited).
With his industrial experience spanning over four decades in various sectors, Shyam has played an active role in forging strong trade & business relationships across the globe. He contributes to prominent platforms like the US-India Business Council and several other global organisations, including the World Economic Forum, in addressing strategic international matters. His vision is reflected in the Group’s commitment towards sustainable development and continued efforts directed towards protecting the environment and serving the community.

Shyam holds a bachelors’ degree in commerce from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta University. He serves on the Board of Chambal Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited, India and is the Chairman of FICCI Singapore Council. He was also a Director on the Board of Air India.
He has been associated with various institutions and has served as a Member of the Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. He has also served as a Member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) & Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and was also a member of the Task Force on Chemicals appointed by the Government of India. He is also a member of Governors for Chemistry and Advanced Materials of the World Economic Forum.

Shyam S Bhartia has also been a strong proponent of Corporate Social Responsibility. He, along with Hari S Bhartia, established the Jubilant Bhartia Foundation (JBF) - the CSR arm of the Group. The CSR efforts of the Group are directed towards community development with a focus on Primary Education, Basic Healthcare services and Livelihood generation programs. Shyam has also been deeply involved in the ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award - India’, a joint initiative of Jubilant Bhartia Foundation and Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, to recognise promising and successful social entrepreneurs in India.

His immense contributions have been recognised by various awards. He, along with his brother, Hari S Bhartia have been honoured with the prestigious ‘Global Leadership Award 2023’ by The U.S. India Business Council (USIBC) in recognition of their exemplary contribution towards strengthening U.S.-India partnership over past three decades.

They were also felicitated with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the prestigious AIMA Managing India Awards, presented by the President of India. The duo also shared the much-coveted Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Life Sciences and Consumer Products category. CHEMEXCIL conferred Lifetime Achievement Award to Shyam S Bhartia. The Jubilant Bhartia Group companies have been recognised with various prestigious awards for excellence in corporate social responsibility, environment management and corporate governance.
Shyam is married to Shobhana, Chairperson & Editorial Director of HT Media Limited and a Former Member of Parliament. They have two sons- Priyavrat and Shamit.
