Kar-Narayan’s research is aimed at finding energy solutions for “small-power” applications such as wireless sensors, portable, flexible and wearable electronics, biomedical implants and structural/environmental monitoring devices. Her work revolves around novel piezoelectric nanomaterials that are capable of harvesting energy from ambient vibrations originating from sources such as moving parts of machines, fluid flow and even body movements. Kar-Narayan's research on nanogenerators and self-powered sensors is aimed at sustainable development and influencing the way smart technology interfaces with our lives in the future.
