Somruedee Chaimongkol has been Chief Executive Officer of Banpu since April 2015. Over the past three-and-a-half decades Banpu has become one of the Asia-Pacific region's most geographically diverse energy groups with an active presence in nine countries: Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, China, Mongolia and Japan. Banpu has also recently become a top-20 gas player in the US.

Banpu has a track record of pioneering business development across the value chain from upstream resource development through logistics and marketing to power generation. Under Somruedee's leadership, Banpu has also expanded into new energy technologies including hydraulic fracturing, solar PV, solar rooftop and smart energy services.

Somruedee has been intimately involved in Banpu's growth since the 1980s, first joining the company in the year of its formation. From 2001 she led the development of Banpu's Finance department, becoming Chief Financial Officer in 2006. During her time as CFO she managed several landmark financial transactions including the power project financings of large IPPs in Thailand and Laos, the IPO of Banpu's Indonesian coal business and the acquisition financing of a large mining company in Australia. She also established an investor relations programme which gained widespread recognition for best practice disclosure and transparency amongst the international investment community.

An Accounting graduate of Bangkok University, she has post-graduate certification from the Program of Global Leadership at Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and the Directors Certification Program of the Thai Institute of Directors Association.
