Ms. Song Yuyan has been actively involved in promoting regional ecological industrial parks, circular economy, and low-carbon development since completing her master's degree in the UK in 2001. Previously, she served as the deputy director of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Tianjin Ecological & Technological Development Area, where she oversaw the ISO14001 Environmental Management System, the establishment of National Eco-industrial Pilot Parks, and a pilot project on circular economy. Ms. Song has also played a leading role in various international cooperation projects, such as the China-EU Environmental Governance Programme's pilot project and the SWITCH-Asia Industrial Symbiosis Project in Tianjin Binhai New Area.
Currently, as the director of the Green Partnership of Industrial Parks in China, Ms. Song is responsible for the organization's daily operations and provides technical support for green development and low-carbon transformation in industrial parks across China. She has led a research project on environmental protection and energy conservation in NETDZs sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce for several years. Ms. Song has also held several leadership positions, including Vice-Chairman of the Committee of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences-Industrial Ecology Chapter, Vice-Chairman of the China Association of Circular Economy-Circular Economy and Internet Chapter, and Southern Weekend's 2012 Eco Person of the Year.
In 2019, Ms. Song was the sole representative of platform organizations for green development in industrial parks in China to deliver a speech at the UN International Conference on Industrial Parks for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID) in Lima, Peru. She is also an expert in sustainable development in the UNDP's expert pool.
