After classical studies at the Sorbonne, the cycle of Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris, and the post graduate diploma in international Economics at the Foundation of Political Sciences of Paris; Sylvie Forbin joined the Quai d’Orsay in 1983. During eighteen years of diplomatic career she has been posted in Beijing, Rome and Brussels. Since 1989, she specialized in cultural fields and in audiovisual regulation and cultural affairs, serving first at the French Representation to the EU in Brussels, then at the French Embassy in Rome and later at the head of a pan-european cooperation organization called “Eureka audiovisual”. Between 2002 and 2016, she worked at Vivendi Universal, where she served as Senior Vice-President of Public and European Affairs. With the two main activities of Vivendi (ex Vivendi Universal Group), Telecom and Media, she was involved with new content services stakes, mainly new business models and IP related topics. As of September 2016, Sylvie is WIPO's Deputy Director General of Copyright and Creative Industries.
