Tengku Muhammad Taufik is the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Finance & Accounting from the Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
His areas of expertise include developing and steering key business strategies, organisational transformation, and financial and risk management. He has vast experience in strategic planning, finance, and business strategy development with a focus on the oil and gas and energy industry. He continues to advocate a just and responsible energy transition by promoting regional partnerships across multiple stakeholder groups in policy-shaping, innovation, and technology.
Tengku Muhammad Taufik was appointed President and Group CEO of PETRONAS in July 2020, responsible for the formulation, direction and steering of key strategies of the Fortune Global 500 organisation.
He currently holds Board positions in PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd and PETRONAS International Corporation Ltd. He is also the Chairman of the Gentari Board of Directors and the National Trust Fund and the Malaysia-United Arab Emirates Business Council (MUBC). He is also a Council Member of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), a member of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA) and the Merdeka Award Board of Trustees.
Tengku Muhammad Taufik is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Oil & Gas Governors Community, and Co-Chairman of the WEF ASEAN Leaders for Just Energy Transition Community. He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).
