Muhammad Taufik

President and Group Chief Executive Officer, PETRONAS (Petroliam Nasional)

Tengku Muhammad Taufik is the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS). He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Finance & Accounting from the Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

His areas of expertise include developing and steering key business strategies, organisational transformation, and financial and risk management. He has vast experience in strategic planning, finance, and business strategy development with a focus on the oil and gas and energy industry. He continues to advocate a just and responsible energy transition by promoting regional partnerships across multiple stakeholder groups in policy shaping, innovation and technology.

In addition to holding Board positions in PETRONAS and its subsidiaries, he is the Chairman of the Gentari Board of Directors, Chairman of the National Trust Fund and Chairman of the Malaysia-United Arab Emirates Business Council (MUBC). He is also a Council Member of the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), and a member of the Merdeka Award Board of Trustees. He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP).

In 2023, he was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M.) which carries the title "Tan Sri," in recognition of his services to Malaysia.
