Tom Burt

Corporate Vice-President, Customer Security and Trust, Microsoft

Tom Burt leads the Customer Security & Trust team which works to ensure customer trust in the security of Microsoft products and services.  Tom joined Microsoft in 1995, and since that time has held a number of leadership roles in the Corporate External and Legal Affairs Department.  Tom’s Customer Security & Trust organization includes Customer Security and Trust Engineering, Customer Security & Trust Legal, Compliance Programs, the Digital Crimes Unit, Global Security Strategy & Diplomacy, Law Enforcement and National Security, Global Readiness and National Security and Global Trade.  
 
Before working at Microsoft, Tom was a trial lawyer at a Seattle law firm.  He has a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and a law degree from the University of Washington Law School.  Away from work, Tom enjoys racing sports cars, skiing, boating, hiking, musical theater, and reading.
