Since 1990, mediator, trainer and researcher in conflict resolution; mediation work in Somalia, worked with former President Nelson Mandela facilitating role of civil society in Burundi peace process; Strategy advisor to former President Masire on InterCongolese Dialogue Peace Process; helped prepare rebel groups for negotiation process in Burundi, facilitated by South African government; appointed as mediation advisor to South African Deputy Minister of International Relations in recent Madagascar mediation; first member of African NGO to address UN Security Council in 2005; appointed by Institute for Economics and Peace to the 2014 Expert Panel for the Global Peace Index and was appointed to serve on the SADC Mediation Experts Reference Group. Honorary Doctorate of Social Sciences from University of KwaZulu Natal and admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa in 2016.
