Graduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Oxford University; Master's in Public Administration, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Currently, he is the CEO, Asia Pacific of Edelman, which is the largest public relations firm in the world. Prior to this he was the Editor of The Straits Times, Singapore's largest selling English daily newspaper and concurrently the Editor-in-Chief of the English/Malay/Tamil Media group of Singapore Press Holdings. He was a member of the editorial team that assisted Lee Kuan Yew with his two part memoirs, The Singapore Story. Author of several books, including: Lee Kuan Yew: the Man and his Ideas; Thinking Allowed: Fear, Politics and Change in Singapore; Without Fear or Favour: 50 years of the Public Service Commission; Our Homes: 50 Years of Housing a Nation; Men for Others; Lead Your Life! He served two terms as the President of World Editors Forum (WEF) which is the leading network for print and digital editors of newspapers and news organisations around the world. WEF is part of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).
