Dr. Lei YANG is Research Professor and Deputy Dean of the Institute of Energy, and Deputy Dean of Institute of Carbon Neutrality, Peking University. He is Chair of International Gas Union coordination committee, member of Global Sustainable Energy Education Council at Columbia University, Deputy Director of the Energy Systems Committee of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, Deputy Director of the Carbon Neutrality Committee of the Chinese Society of Petroleum, Academic Committee of the Energy Transition and Social Development Research Center at Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of the editorial board of "International Petroleum Economy" and “Petroleum and New Energy”. He has served as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director Fatih BIROL of the International Energy Agency from 2016 to 2019, Director and Deputy Director General of National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration of China since 2002. He is committed to promoting energy transition, energy reform, and global energy governance, participated in the research and formulation of a number of energy policies, and is enthusiastic about the Public Awareness of energy transition. He is the author of several popular energy related books such as the future of energy and articles. He was the cofounder of Institute of Energy, Peking University in 2020.
