Geneva, Switzerland, 9 March 2015 – The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa will be held at the Dead Sea in Jordan on 21-23 May 2015. Convening under the theme, Creating a Regional Framework for Prosperity and Peace through Public-Private Cooperation, more than 800 government, business and civil society leaders from more than 50 countries are expected to participate.

Media accreditation for the event is now open. If you would like to cover the event, please submit your accreditation request online at www.weforummedia.org. The deadline for media accreditation is Thursday 30 April 2015. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted and no accreditation will be considered on site.

The Co-Chairs of the meeting are Omar K. Alghanim, Chief Executive Officer, Alghanim Industries, Kuwait; Gordon Brown, Chair, World Economic Forum Global Strategic Infrastructure Initiative; Member of Parliament; Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (2007-2010); Suma Chakrabarti, President, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), London; Bodoor Al Qasimi, Chairman, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority – Shurooq, United Arab Emirates; and John Rice, Vice-Chairman, GE, Hong Kong SAR.

Responding to pivotal developments in the region, the meeting will address the shared and urgent imperative of driving economic and social advancement, particularly for youth. The emphasis will be placed on translating emerging new investment, infrastructure and energy partnerships among the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Levant and North Africa, into robust communities for regional growth and development.

Given Jordan’s unique diplomatic role and reflecting the changing geopolitics and geo-economics of the region, the meeting will also hold high-level dialogues on the security and humanitarian imperatives with the goal to advance shared understanding and action.

Since the meeting was first held at the Dead Sea in 2003, it has had the continued support and participation of Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah and the Government of Jordan. This year’s meeting will further build on Jordan’s central role in the region.

The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa was last hosted in Jordan in 2013 in partnership with King Abdullah II Fund For Development (KAFD). This year will mark the eighth meeting with Jordan as host.
