Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, 22 January 2016 – AIDS has killed more than 34 million people since 1981. Today, more than 37 million people are living with HIV, and mothers continue to pass the virus in startling numbers to their children.

“Where you live should not decide if you live,” said Bono, Lead Singer, U2; Co-Founder of (RED) and Co-Founder of ONE, Ireland.

Life-saving anti-retroviral treatments cost as little as 30 cents a day, yet most living with HIV won’t see medicine in their lifetime. A leading organization in the fight against AIDS, (RED) was founded with a simple mission – to make it easy for people to come together and join the fight against the virus.

“Throughout the past decade, (RED) has raised more than $350 million with the help of 65 companies,” said Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum. “It’s not just cold cash, it’s political heat,” added Bono. We can see an AIDS-free generation in our lifetime, they declared.

Over 2,500 leaders from business, government, international organizations, civil society, academia, media and the arts are participating in the 46th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, on 20-23 January.
