Geneva, Switzerland, and Dalian, People’s Republic of China, 18 June 2019 – The World Economic Forum today announced the Co-Chairs of its Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019, which will take place on 1-3 July in Dalian, People’s Republic of China.
Building on nearly 40 years of convening leaders in China, this year’s meeting convenes under the theme Leadership 4.0: Succeeding in a New Era of Globalization. The purpose of the meeting will be to provide leaders with insights, guidance and scope for collaboration in achieving sustainable, inclusive economic growth in a global economy that is being fundamentally disrupted by the emergence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a changing geopolitical landscape, climate change and rising inequality.
The Co-Chairs, who will play an important role in helping to shape the agenda of the meeting, are:
· Enass Abo-Hamed, Fellow, Imperial College London and World Economic Forum Young Scientist
· Flemming Besenbacher, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Carlsberg
· Suphachai Chearavanont, Chief Executive Officer, Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group
· Alain Dehaze, Chief Executive Officer, the Adecco Group
· Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills of United Arab Emirates
· Ning Gaoning, Chairman, Sinochem Group
· Charles Li, Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX)
· Jessica Tan, Co-CEO of Ping An Group and Chairman of Ping An Technology
“Today’s leaders must make decisions in rapidly changing market, technological, geopolitical and regulatory conditions. The Annual Meeting of the New Champions provides them with the contextual intelligence to help them navigate this new reality and an opportunity to help play a formative role in shaping a more sustainable, prosperous and secure future,” said David Aikman, Chief Representative Officer, China, Member of the Executive Committee, World Economic Forum.
The Annual Meeting of the New Champions is also an important opportunity for communities and constituents to use the Forum’s platform for public-private cooperation to drive important industry, regional and global agendas. In addition to leaders from government, business and academia it will also play host to 150 of the world’s most promising start-ups and members of the Forum’s Technology Pioneers and Young Scientists communities.
