Cyber World CleanUp Day

During the third week of March 2021, our hub organised a local Cyber CleanUp, in partnership with the French initiative of Cyber World CleanUp Day (coordinated by World CleanUp Day France and Institut du Numérique Responsable) . The project consists in coordinating a cleanup of as much personal and associative virtual data as possible and then measure and share the associated environmental benefits.

Below the results of our first event in March 2021:

  • 210 GB cleaned overall from emails, laptops, clouds, smartphones and socials.

  • 8.4 MWh of energy saved.

  • 4 tons Equivalent of CO2 saved.

Assuming conversion rates of 1 MB = 19 g Eq CO2 (source) and 1 kWh = 475 g Eq CO2 as global average (source). These conversion rates were provided by the Cyber World CleanUp Day partners.
