The Future of Personalized Well-being

Context and Challenge:

Every individual is unique, but today’s solutions to enable their well-being are not. Advancements in technology and the use of personal biodata hold the promise to move beyond mass “one size fits all” solutions to more personalized solutions that preventatively improve well-being through better lifestyle recommendations, products, and services that are tailored to an individual’s unique needs and biological profile. Personalized well-being solutions are emerging on a spectrum from basic personalization to hyper-personalized to precision solutions (often depending upon the breadth and timeliness of available personal data). These solutions are highlighting the potential for a new world that could unlock the powerful combination of personal data, AI, and IoT combined with scientific research in areas such as the microbiome to preventatively improve well-being and ultimately strengthen individual and societal resilience.

Despite the powerful potential of this new world, many personalized well-being solutions remain slow in coming to market and have had difficulty reaching scale. New business, operating, and governance models are needed to realize the benefits of personalized well-being solutions at scale. Consumers and their wellness outcomes must be placed at the center of these new models with consumers ultimately controlling their data, who uses it, how they use it, and for how long.

The Future of Personalized Well-being initiative aims to harness the power of digital biology to be the game-changer needed to improve people’s quality of life and overall well-being.

Mission:

Transform societal well-being by unlocking the full potential of personalized consumption.

Vision:

Individuals are leading healthy and resilient lives – preventatively empowered by an advanced spectrum of personalized solutions tailored to their unique physical and mental health needs.
