Science Period

Ahmedabad Hub is working to end taboos around menstruation in India by using science to explain this essential biological process. Science Period implements in-school awareness workshops that cover the how and why of menstruation, as well as best practices for hygiene and wellbeing. Workshops include a design challenge, where students create a model uterus to explain the biological process of menstruation. The goal of the project is to normalize and spread the conversation around menstruation, while equipping young girls with vital information.

Science Period launched in 2017 and has reached 2,300 girls in 6 schools to date. Ahmedabad Hub is now working on a DIY science model to be used by all educators to teach menstruation, with the aim of reaching 100,000 girls.
