Future Readiness of SMEs

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the global economy. With around 400 million enterprises worldwide, SMEs account for approximately 90% of all firms globally, generate 70% of employment, and contribute up to 70% of global GDP.

Despite their significant contributions, SMEs face some unique challenges including access to finance, inequitable access to technology and innovation, and survival and expansion.

Recognizing the vital role SMEs play in economic development, job creation, and innovation, we are excited to introduce the World Economic Forum’s SME Digital Membership which is specifically designed to support smaller businesses in overcoming these challenges and achieving sustainable growth and cultivate a platform for dialogue and exchange where SMEs can share their diverse experiences and success stories with peers.
