Cement and concrete sector

Download the Nature Positive: Role of the Cement and Concrete Sector report

After water, concrete is the most consumed material in the world. With no scalable substitutes currently available, it is a critical construction material for society, and demand is set to increase with growing urbanization. However, the sector is responsible for over 7% of global GHG emissions and 9% of industrial water withdrawals.

Developed in collaboration with Oliver Wyman, the Nature Positive: Role of the Cement and Concrete Sector report promotes five priority actions businesses can take to reduce their impacts on nature and unlock opportunities across value chains, spanning water management, emissions reductions, land stewardship, circularity practices and innovation.

By implementing these solutions, the sector stands to unlock over $40 billion per year in additional value by 2030 in a new nature-positive economy.
