Mining and metals sector

Download the Nature Positive: Role of the Mining and Metals Sector report

The mining and metals sector will be essential to accelerating the energy transition, supplying critical minerals for infrastructure and electrification. With demand for these materials expected to increase four to six times by 2040, the sector must capitalize on this opportunity to adopt nature-positive practices and build resilience against material nature-related risks.

Developed in collaboration with Oliver Wyman, the Nature Positive: Role of the Mining and Metals Sector report promotes five priority actions, spanning operational transformation, water stewardship, circularity, land restoration and regeneration, and system transformation.

By implementing these solutions, the sector stands to unlock over $430 billion per year in additional value by 2030 in a new nature-positive economy. This report aims to guide stakeholders across the mining and metals value chain in the journey towards nature positive.
