This report, developed by the World Economic Forum's First Movers Coalition, is intended for individuals directly or indirectly procuring near-zero cement and concrete. It provides a current view of the procurement landscape, key carbon accounting issues for cement and concrete, and language that may prove useful in passing along to suppliers and intermediaries.

The manufacturing of cement and concrete currently accounts for 7-8% of annual global CO2 emissions and the use of these materials will only rise. It is clear that the decarbonization of cement and concrete is critical to a net-zero future. However, there are several challenges to be tackled, including the important task of clearly specifying emissions targets to assist procurement activities.
