World and regional leaders will video, tweet and blog live from the event, themed Responding to the New Globalism

  • World Economic Forum on East Asia to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 12-13 June 2011

World leaders will be connected to all major social networks at the World Economic Forum on East Asia, giving the public exclusive access to participants and sessions.

East Asia 2011 Ask a LeaderThe interactive Social Media Corner at the venue in Jakarta will serve as the central social hub to reach out to the public to facilitate and generate a worldwide discussion on the theme Responding to the New Globalism.

The aim is to create an open and direct dialogue between regional leaders and the world.

Until 4 June, the could post quesitons to participants through Ask a Leader on the Forum’s Facebook page. A selection of the best questions will be put to regional leaders and industry experts at the Social Media Corner. Video replies to the Ask a Leader series will be uploaded to YouTube.

All plenary sessions of the meeting will be webcast live on Livestream or via the Forum’s Facebook page. The session videos will also be available on demand on the Forum’s YouTube channel. 

East Asia 2011 LiveStreamFor selected sessions, the Forum’s 70,000 Facebook fans will be polled live for their input on tough global questions. Their views will be fed directly into the panel discussion, creating a compelling instant think-tank.

The Forum will also compile an official Twitter list of all participants providing insights, news and views from the meeting. The tweets will also be published on the Forum’s mobile app.
