Not only does Europe have many immediate economic challenges but it also has long term structural issues like an ageing population. Many of the potential solutions being discussed are clichéd and not relevant to a fast paced modern world. Potential answers lie in innovation, which is the theme of this year’s event.

So, I am really looking forward to some robust and thoughtful discussion at the World Economic Forum on Europe and Central Asia meeting about how effective innovation can be used to tackle some of these challenges. I really like the format of the World Economic Forum meetings where informed panel discussion spark genuine debate which can be taken into networking sessions.

I am a social entrepreneur and almost be default I am permanently being innovative. Increasing unemployment which leads to homelessness and poverty is leading to a great deal of distress. This means that the economy is not sustainable. Social entrepreneurs can bring innovative market-based solutions to these problems.

The World Economic Forum provides a wonderful opportunity for people from different sectors to come together and discuss these deep-rooted issues in a constructive way. I am really looking forward to healthy debate which gives new insights. I love the way the Forum allows space for key decision makers and leaders to talk about ideas in an uninhibited way.

Leaders from government and business obviously have crucial roles to play but social entrepreneurs also have very important contributions to make because they are innovative by nature. If the debate is positive and constructive then potential practical solutions might emerge. I look forward to stimulating and informed discussion from “can do” people who can change the world.
