World Economic Forum on Europe and Central Asia : Michael Fertik on Rethinking Personal Data
In addition to the Annual Meeting in Davos and the Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China, the Tech Pioneers take part in regional events throughout the year.
These meetings provide excellent opportunities for entrepreneurs to interact with top industry leaders, allowing collaboration and cross-networking in a more intimate setting than the annual meetings, which are attended by a much higher number of participants.
The World Economic Forum on Europe and Central Asia was held this week in Vienna. Michael Fertik, Founder and CEO of Reputation.com, Technology Pioneer class of 2011, specialises in online privacy and reputation. He was invited to contribute in a panel, organised by the Risk Response Network on “Rethinking Personal Data”.

Here are some of Michael’s thoughts on the discussion that he shared with us from on-site.
“Today in Vienna we had an invigorating panel discussion on Rethinking Personal Data (RRD). Panelists from telecom, law enforcement, academia, civil society, and entrepreneurship (yours truly) came together to discuss how to generate end-user wealth from the huge oil rush that is personal data on the Internet. The World Economic Forum has raised this important topic to a global level through its launch of its RPD project, which has already yielded meetings in various parts of the world. Today's session was the Forum's first public event for this topic, and the audience participation and response were terrific. The group and the audience were both energetic and informed.
Congratulations to the World Economic forum for its leadership on this critical issue that affects companies, governments, and, most importantly, people throughout the world.”
