Middle East Global Shapers Represent the Youth Voice
Here at the Forum, those of us on the Global Shapers Team are thrilled to be hosting representatives from across the Middle East to the upcoming Special Meeting on Economic Growth and Job Creation in the Arab World. As a global network of local hubs, the Global Shapers Community is led by young people between the ages of 20-30 who are exceptional in their potential, their achievements and their drive to make a positive contribution to their communities.
Thirteen Shapers from Hubs in Amman, Cairo, Doha, Dubai, Riyadh and Tunis will participate in the Meeting, representing the youth voice and going to sessions on subjects such as Youth Unemployment, Social Media in the Arab World and New Models of Leadership. A Global Shaper from Riyadh, Khalid Alkhudair, is eager to contribute. “The meeting is about job creation and the site I developed [Glowork] is the first of its kind, dedicated to helping women find careers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I believe I will bring to the meeting experiences and stories to share about women’s empowerment, challenges we have faced and successes.”
In addition to sharing their expertise and conversing with leaders, the Shapers are looking forward to meeting one another. According to Global Shaper and social entrepreneur Mohamed Fawzy El-Haw, connecting with other Global Shapers will be a key take-away from the meeting. “I want to learn from their successes and gain perspective on what fellow Shapers are doing individually and in their Hubs. I hope to get feedback on our local operations as well as find ways to partner with Hubs in different countries and expand our impact.”
We look forward to updating you from Jordan these next few days. Global Shapers and members of our Team will be blogging at the Meeting, and we will also be posting updates on our Twitter account and Facebook page.
