To a certain extent things are out of control. Before the iPhone had the ability to easily turn on the flashlight, you could get thousands of different apps which would do it and, depending on which one you picked, you would download the thing just to turn the flashlight on and it would ask for access to your calendar. These apps were deliberately made to steal your data, build a profile of you. These companies are nefarious in what they do and their whole business model is stealing data and not helping [people] in their lives at all.
