How positive are Chinese citizens about trade?
The benefits of globalisation and international trade are widely recognised by Chinese citiizens, according to a poll from Gallup. The majority of nearly 5000 respondents thought the greater availability of products and goods from different parts of the world was a good thing for their country, nearly three-quarters believe increased trade mostly helps, rather than hurts, domestic companies, two-thirds say it mostly helps Chinese workers, and more than six in 10 agree that foreign companies building factories in China are mostly helping the nation’s economy overall.
Younger Chinese are significantly more likely than their elders to give positive answers to all four trade questions. And the greater the level of education the more enthusiastic the responses.
