Who is the most trusted leader in Asia?
Asia has the most confidence in China’s President Xi Jinping to do the right thing regarding world affairs, according to new research by Pew. Xi received the strongest support from Malaysia (72%) and South Korea (67%), and also notably from young people in the Philippines (59%) aged 18 to 29.
Asian nations also expressed a high opinion of China as a whole. More than 82% of Pakistanis said they had a favourable view of China, just slightly more than in Malaysia (78%). China’s overall favourable ranking was 57%.
The data was collected by the Pew Research Center, which surveyed 15,313 people in 10 Asia-Pacific nations and the US.
