Which countries are most optimistic about entrepreneurship?

Joe Myers
Writer, Forum Agenda

Brazil is the country where you’ll find the most people who see entrepreneurship as a good career option, according to a report by the OECD, Entrepreneurship at a Glance 2015.

The report presents key indicators, including attitudes, on entrepreneurship in OECD countries. A joint initiative between the OECD and Eurostat, it aims to compile comparable international data.

Following Brazil in second place is the Netherlands, where 79.1% of the population see entrepreneurship as a promising career path. Indonesia, with 72.9%, completes the top three.

Four BRICS economies feature in the list – Brazil in first, South Africa in fifth, Russia in seventh and China in eighth. The rest of the top 10 is rounded off by Colombia, Chile, Italy and the United States.

The data is based on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) project, which coordinates a survey of at least 2,000 individuals in each country, all between the ages of 18 and 64.
