These countries lead the global biofuel production
Here's a chart that shows the top 10 countries for biofuel production, measured as thousand barrels per day.
The United States produces the most biofuels, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. In 2012, it produced some 940,000 barrels a day.
The following chart is based on EIA data, and shows the top 10 countries for biofuel production, measured as thousand barrels per day. The EIA considers biofuels a collective term for liquid fuel, which is derived from renewable sources – types of biofuel include ethanol, biodiesel and biobutanol.
Following the US in second place is Brazil, with 449,000 barrels a day. Germany is a distant third – it produces 68,000 barrels a day. Combined, Brazil and the US produce over 70% of the world’s biofuels.
The top 10 has a global feel, with two European, three Asian, two North American and three South American countries featuring.
