Marta Chierego

UN Climate change negotiations are well underway in Paris, with many expecting an agreement limiting rising global temperatures to no more than 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels this century.

During our events around the world, the World Economic Forum has brought together leading experts on climate change to help us better understand the challenges our planet is facing.

1. Merchants of doubt
Naomi Oreskes Professor of the History of Science, Harvard University

Why don’t people believe the scientific evidence of climate change?

2. Adapting food crops to climate change
Colette Heald | Mitsui Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at MIT

What is the impact of global change on the future of food production?

3. Resource abundance by design
Bill McDonough | Consulting Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Stanford University

What if we designed materials that could go back to nature safely?

4. The Cost Of Carbon
Al Gore | Vice-President of the United States (1993-2001); Chairman and Co-Founder, Generation Investment Management

There are two simple solutions to the climate crisis. We need to put a price on carbon in markets and we need to put a price on denial in politics.

5. The Carbon Market 2.0
Jane Burston | Head, Climate and Environment National Physical Laboratory
