Ever feel like you need some motivation to pick up the books you can't seem to get around to? Here are some tips from members of the World Economic Forum Book Club on how to incorporate more books into your life for 2020.
1. Grabbing a book for your commute
Stuck in the train for two hours a day? Make the most of that time. This seemed to be the most common tip from our members.
2. Allocating specific time to read during your day
We're all a bit guilty of scrolling on our phones for hours. Setting aside 30 minutes each day, either when waking up or before going to sleep, is another popular method to catch up on some classics.
3. Carrying books around so you can read during breaks
Have no-one to grab lunch with at work? Take the time to keep up with the latest novel.
4. Limiting social media and television
Many of our book club members limit their social media and television time, which had taken over their lives.
5. Incorporating new ways to read (audiobooks and Kindle)
Audiobooks are a great way to add more books to your list, especially if you don't have much space in your library.
6. Setting a 'reading challenge'
Reading challenges are a popular way to motivate you, and to compete with your friends. We set our own reading challenge on our Goodreads page: join us!
7. Joining a Book Club
We're a bit biased here, but we definitely think joining a book club is a great way to reignite your love for books. The World Economic Forum Book Club was set up in April 2018, and we have featured a huge variety of authors including Yuval Harari, Melinda Gates, Elif Shafak and more.
