Future of Capitalism: A youth perspective

Chief executives, politicians and other global officials often discuss the need for solutions to address the negative effects of modern business models on the climate and other pressing global challenges. But how do the perspectives of these senior leaders compare to those of younger generations? Join this 30-minute issue briefing to hear from international youths on their thoughts on if - and how - it is possible make capitalism sustainable for everyone.

Lei grew up in China and came to New Zealand a few years ago, where she started to develop a deeper appreciation of Mother Earth and of different cultures. With a background in Sociology, Statistics and Economics, she is passionate about understanding how systems operate and moving away from static, default thinking.
Currently, together with the Global Shapers Auckland Hub, she is working on a project that aims to build a regenerative framework for Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) that shows what the city might look like if it were regenerative at heart, centering the wisdom and voices of the indigenous Māori people of Aotearoa New Zealand.
- Miguel A Rozo, Global Shaper, Vancouver Hub
Miguel's background spans international affairs, entrepreneurship and advocacy. His interest in rethinking capitalism stems from his life experiences as a former refugee and later immigrant to Canada, a place he now calls home. He is a TEDx speaker, former Canadian delegate to the G7 Youth Summit, and founder of IdeasXChange, a youth-led social innovation organization that he led for three years, before pivoting to work in international affairs. Most recently, Miguel helped to spearhead the Davos Lab initiative with the Global Shapers Community and the World Economic Forum to launch the world's first youth-driven recovery report.
- Alexis Taylor, Global Shaper, Austin Hub
Alexis is originally from the midwestern United States. Her curiosity about the world and how it works comes from her pilot dad who took her on international trips at a young age.
She works in the ESG space and previously spent a decade in various local and global social impact roles exploring how the public, private and civil society sectors facilitate systems change. Alexis is most proud of her recent endeavor co-initiating the Davos Lab, a citizen-centered policy and impact incubator for systems-level solutions, that launched the world's first grassroots & youth-led Pandemic Recovery Plan.
- Tariq Al-Olaimy, Global Shaper, Manama Hub
Tariq is co-Founder and Managing Director at 3BL Associates, a people + planet strategy think-do-tank that was established to accelerate global sustainable and regenerative development through collaboration. 3BL have advised Nobel Peace Prize winners and nominees, impact investment funds, governments, and corporates on multi-stakeholder models to advanced development. Through 3BL, Tariq has co-founded various impact initiatives, including Diversity on Board, a platform that brings greater parity of gender and youth to board positions in the MENA region; Recipes for Wellbeing, an organization that works to shift the culture of changemakers to include a focus on holistic well-being; Public-Planet Partnerships, a Nature Based Solutions design framework that facilitates mutually beneficial collaborations between humans and nature. Tariq is among the first 100 certified Biomimicry specialists in the world.
