Davos 2024 Day 3: What to expect

Welcome to the third day of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos. Each morning we'll bring you a rundown of what to expect, the sessions you might want to keep an eye on, any essential pre-reading and things that are good to know.

We heard from global leaders yesterday on issues from the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, monetary policy in 2024, jobs, equitable economic growth, energy demand, artificial intelligence, and the need to find common ground.

Qatar and Viet Nam join the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network

The World Economic Forum has signed a collaboration agreement with the State of Qatar to establish a Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Qatar.

A Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution will also be established in Viet Nam.

Leading organizations announce new investments to support world's most vulnerable

The World Economic Forum’s Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Initiative announced more than 50 commitments, from over 40 partners, to boost impact investment in frontier markets.

Global Government Technology Centre established in Berlin

The World Economic Forum and GovTech Campus Deutschland have announced the establishment of the Global Government Technology Centre Berlin.

Commitments for breakthrough industrial decarbonization technologies

The First Movers Coalition (FMC) has reached 96 members, with more than 120 commitments to purchase near-zero emission goods and services by 2030.

Future of Growth

A new World Economic Forum report released today calls for a new approach to economic growth and presents a new framework that views GDP alongside quality of growth.

The approach calls for a balance between long-term sustainability and equity with efficiency, looking at speed and quality together.

Closing the Gap In Women's Health: A $1 Trillion Opportunity to Improve Lives and Economies

While longer life expectancies for men and women have been a societal success story, this is not the full picture. Despite living longer than men, women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health. Health burdens have a heavy impact on women’s lives, with ripple effects for broader society. To address these issues, the World Economic Forum and the McKinsey Health Institute have released a new insight report as part of the Forum's Women’s Health Initiative.

2.6 billion people still don't use the internet, but the Forum's EDISON Alliance partners have improved the lives of 784 million people through 320 digital inclusion initiatives across 127 countries.
