Strategies to prevent climate change are often seen as a luxury in the developing world – but can Africa protect jobs and development as well as the climate?
Anton Cartwright was the ‘Green Economy’ Mistra Urban Futures Researcher at the African Centre Cities from 2013-2015. Previously he convened the City of Cape Town’s Climate Change Think Tank. His work focuses on the application of economics to Africa’s urban transition, environmental degradation and poverty alleviation and the implication of these issues for the discipline of economics itself. He holds two post-graduate degrees (in Environmental Change and Management and in Economics for Development) from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He is an associate of the Stockholm Environment Institute and the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership.
