Annamaria Milazzo is a consultant at the World Bank. Prior to joining the 2017 World Development Report team, she was a post-doctoral researcher in the World Bank's Development Research Group (2013-2015). Her research explores how social norms and parental gender preferences shape individual behavior with impacts on human development outcomes for women and children in developing countries. Annamaria received her Ph.D. in Economics from Bocconi University (Italy) in 2013. Before starting her Ph.D., she worked at the World Bank's Social Protection & Labor unit (2005-2008).
