Seaweed, Indonesia’s answer to the global plastic crisis
Indonesia has become the home of bioplastics, derived from red seaweed.
Bakti holds a BSc degre in fisheries processing technology (Bogor Agriculture University), and MSc in food technology (KU Leuven). Currently, he is taking a PhD program under the College of Engineering and Science (Victoria University, Melbourne) with his project of biodegradable plastic from seaweed. He has been working at research institutes on fisheries postharvest area under The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries since 2005.
