How we create an international framework for privacy-preserving digital ID
The World Economic Forum’s Digital ID Initiative is catalyzing an international framework to realize financial, health and social impact amid privacy concerns.
Brett McDowell brings over 20 years of ICT industry coalition leadership experience to his role as Chair & President of Hedera. He has had founding executive roles at the Kantara Initiative (an identity assurance standards-setting and certification body), IDESG (Identity Ecosystem Steering Group, a public-private consortium formed to implement President Obama's National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace), DMARC.org (an anti-phishing technology standards-setting workgroup), and Fast IDentity Online Alliance (the cryptographic authentication standards-setting body responsible for PassKeys). Mr. McDowell also has extensive multi-stakeholder governance experience, having served on the board or advisory board of MAAWG (Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group), NCSA (National Cyber Security Alliance), StopBadWare.org, and PCI SSC (Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council), among other industry coalitions. Brett is a former fellow at the UMASS Center for Digital Government, a former member of the US Federal Reserve Bank's Mobile Payments Industry Working Group, and a recipient of the 2019 Top 50 Tech Leaders award from InterCon.
