Christopher Parsons

Assistant Professor, University of Western Australia

Until recently, Chris was a Research Officer at the International Migration Institute in the Oxford Department of International Development. As of October 2015 Chris will take up a new position as Assistant Professor at the University of Western Australia. Prior to arriving at Oxford, Chris was an ESRC funded PhD student at the University of Nottingham, where he also held a Royal Economic Society Junior Fellowship. Chris’s research interests are broadly centered on development issues, although to date his research has focused upon the links between international migration and development.

Previously, Chris worked as an economist at HM Treasury in the directorate of macroeconomics and international finance, as a researcher in the Economics Department of the University of Sussex and in the Development Economics Research Group at the World Bank. He has also held a fellowship with the Overseas Development Institute, working as an Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Sierra Leone. Chris has consulted for the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the World Bank, the Commonwealth Secretariat and the UK Government.
