Dan Davies

Dan Davies is the Dean of the Cardiff School of Education at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

I joined Cardiff Metropolitan University as Dean of the Cardiff School of Education in January 2015. I had previously spent 16 years at Bath Spa University in a variety of roles, including Head of Research in the School of Education, Assistant Dean, Head of Primary Education, PGCE Primary Programme Leader and Principal Lecturer in Primary Science and Technology Education.

I graduated with a BSc in Physics from UCL in 1984 and took a PGCE Primary qualification at the Institute of Education in 1985-6 before teaching in primary schools in the Inner London Education Authority and the London Boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth. I spent a period as a Regional Education Officer for the Design Council (1990-92) before studying for a Master's degree in Technology Education at Goldsmiths' University of London. I subsequently worked at Goldsmiths' as a Lecturer in Primary Science Education (1996-8) during which time I started my PhD, which I completed at Bath Spa University in 2001.
