What history tells us about pandemics' impact on inflation
New research looks at the historical impact of pandemics on long-term inflation, with two economists exploring what it means for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dennis Bonam is an economist at the Economic Policy and Research Division of De Nederlandsche Bank (Dutch Central Bank). He is also a lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, School of Business and Economics, where he teaches Macroeconomics I (BSc) and Advanced Macroeconomics (MSc). His research covers topics on macroeconomics, with a particular focus on monetary-fiscal policy interactions. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2016.
